Assistant Professor · HKU
Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences
I'm a geophysicist and geochemist with a passion for understanding how Earth (and planets like it) transformed from an initially inhospitable world into one capable of sustaining life. I currently serve as a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at the University of Hong Kong.
My work centers on developing multidisciplinary theoretical and computational models that link the history of solid Earth differentiation with the chemical evolution of the atmosphere and oceans across geologic time. By integrating mantle thermal evolution, geochemical cycles, and planetary processes, I aim to generate testable evolution trajectories of the terrestrial planets and examine the proposed origin-of-life theories.
I earned my Ph.D. in Earth and Planetary Sciences Department from Yale University, an M.S. in Geochemistry from the University of Maryland, College Park, and a B.S. in Applied Chemistry from Central South University. Before joining HKU, I held titled postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Chicago (T.C. Chamberlin Fellow) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU Presidential Postdoctoral Fellow).
I collaborate actively with colleagues across the United States, Singapore, and mainland China, and I'm always excited to explore new collaborations. Feel free to reach out!
